why is the octopus in an aquarium – surely it belongs in the oceans …
we marvel at its’ capabilities but keep it locked in a glass box. Ughhhhh

Hi cath, I agree the octopus belongs in the oceans. However, octopuses in the oceans suffer from even bigger issues, like pollution and (over)fishing. Compared to that, octopuses in aquariums, provided the aquariums have good conditions, are not that badly off. Seeing animals in aquariums may also raise awareness with the public; children etc. However, I repeat, conditional on the circumstances at these aquariums being good.
