NATO Raid Kills 18 Afghan Civilians

Kabul, Feb 14 – NATO air strikes killed at least 18 Afghan civilians in a building in Musa Qala district, in the southern province of Helmand, on Wednesday.

According to a witness, Aji Ibrahim, the victims, including women and children, were relatives of the owner of the building, Haji Qasim.

However, a NATO report revealed that its warplanes targeted a remote facility near the center of Musa Qala district, and allegedly killed a notorious Taliban leader.

“The situation in Musa Qala is complicated and I need to reiterate that the government continues leading the efforts to control the situation,” said NATO spokesman Col. Tom Collins during a press conference in Kabul.

Musa Qala, district capital of Helmand province, has been under resistance control since February 2.
