Early return of spoonbills to Texel island

This is a spoonbill video.

Translated from Staatsbosbeheer in The Netherlands:

This morning, the first spoonbills have returned from their wintering areas to the national park Dunes of Texel.

On average, the spoonbills return on 25 February, with 1 February and 19 March as extremes.

That the first returnees went to De Geul [lake] on Texel is logical, as the biggest colony is there, with at least 269 breeding pairs last year.

The unusually warm winter again?
