Bird migration observed

Osprey

From Dutch RTV Noord-Holland:

AMSTERDAM During bird counts in the nature reserves Balgzand and Amstelmeer in the North of Noord-Holland province, over 80 bird species were counted.

The organizers, Landschap NoordHolland, had expected only 60 species.

The rare osprey was spotted; so were spoonbills, little stints and grey wagtails.

At counts of migrating birds all over The Netherlands this Saturday, 193 species were counted.

Also the Dutch provinces of Friesland and Flevoland, like many countries in Europe and elsewhere in the world, including Latin America, Rwanda (see also here) in Africa, participated in World Birdwatch.
