  1. rather disturbing.
i saw her/him in what the bleep!

i can not ever see this stuff every ceasing though.
racism is going to be with us for a long time.
apparently it comes from the early stages of humanity….where outsides posed a threat to family & communities. kind of a basic instinct to protect their families, but it now has no place in today’s society/civilization.

    • No, I would not say present racism is “from the early stages of humanity”. Persecution of Jews for nearly 2,000 years was based on Christianity as a state religion: the theory was that if a Jew converted, the persecution would stop. In the nineteenth century, this mutated into the fiction of a so called inferior “Semitic race”, potentially still more lethal. While there was no special anti-African prejudice in the Roman empire: people of all complexions might become either slaves or elite. After the start of the trans-Atlantic slave trade in the sixteenth-seventeenth centuries, anti-African racism originated to justify it.

  2. Yes, I think we learn to be racists depending on the culturally dominant view. In the beginning of humanity, surely we must have all looked pretty much the same – particular differentiation occurring as we moved out across the globe???
