Interesting that it’s a first for the Netherlands. They are very rare vagrants in the UK. RH

Yes, usually rare vagrants from North America are more likely to turn up in Ireland or Britain than in the Netherlands.

I think in this case, it was more probably a strong west wind. Global warming would be a more likely cause if south European or African birds turn up in Europe. American robins live in North America in a zone with roughly the same temperatures as the Netherlands.
