This is a video of a song thrush singing.
This morning, the song thrush was singing again.
It had stopped when temperatures dropped below freezing.
Now it is less wintry, and I could hear its song.

The Cardinals are like that in our territory. I thought about you this morning while at the breakfast table. I said “I bet Kitty can answer that.” For the last week or two I have seen a flock of feeding blackbirds (could be something else but they were black and when they flew away they appeared to be a little lighter in color). They come to a VERY large locust tree that has ivy growing up it for at least 30 feet. The birds come in a flock and take turns feeding aroung the base of the tree while the others rest in the ivy. QUESTION: Do you think that the ivy is putting out some kind of tiny seeds that the birds are feeding on? The squirrels don’t feed there although they run up and down inside the ivy cover.
Hi, you are lucky to see the cardinals!
I don’t know what cardinals feed on. I do know that birds in Europe, and very probably North America, eat ivy berries, which are ripe (in the Netherlands) in December.
