  1. I missed the basalt columns but did see the cliffs on a foggy day. Luckily the fog cleared enough to appreciate them. That day we went to church and saw many people that looked Spanish. I asked a shopkeeper about it and she said “That is because they ARE Spanish.” They were the generations following the destruction of the Spanish Armada. Many of the sailors swam to shore and settled in the area. For some reason that fact resonates within me; some 32 years later.
