After the first chaffinch on the balcony … the first great spotted woodpecker on the balcony … this morning, for the first time a robin on the balcony.

Indeed! Robins are one of few bird species singing in winter months as well as in spring and summer. Both males and females sing.
Is there a difference in tone between male and female?

Me too Kitty. As a child, the Song Thrush was a common bird around here – just as common as Blackbirds – not any more, It’s a noteworthy event when I see one now and it makes me sad, My regards SN

Thank you! Maybe some of the blackbirds and song thrushes in that garden were migrants from northern Europe.
