  2. Malnutrition risk in storm-hit Haiti

Some 1.5 million people in Haiti are at risk of malnutrition according to NationalCommittee for Food Security after storm Sandy destroyed crops and livestock.

The most vulnerable Haitians remain homeless after an earthquake in January 2010. Storm Sandy has made even more homeless. It destroyed over 6,000 buildings, damaging over 21,000 others.

Poverty means the impact of storms on Haiti is more severe than on richer countries. And it is Western intervention that has kept Haiti poor.
