  1. Graft charges hit ex-premier Bush

    CAYMAN ISLANDS: Former premier McKeeva Bush was charged on Wednesday in a corruption investigation, but the rump of his political party pledged to stand behind him in May elections.

    Mr Bush has been charged with five counts of theft, four of breach of trust and two of misconduct in public office.

    MPs ousted him as premier in December, but he remained an MP and United Democratic Party leader after many of his colleagues quit to form a minority government.

  2. Ex-premier ‘paid £660k for PhD’

    CAYMAN ISLANDS: Former premier McKeeva Bush, who faces charges in a corruption probe, is denying allegations that he donated £660,000 to a Caribbean university to obtain an honorary PhD.

    Mr Bush said that he knows nothing about a donation to University College of the Caribbean in Jamaica.

    In March, authorities accused him of misusing a state credit card and other offences and charged him with five counts of theft, four counts of breach of trust and two counts of misconduct in public office.
